Many Russian people came to Australia because of the riots and violence of the anit- jewish pogroms. After World War 2 many Russian arrived from Displaced Persons camps.
Russian immagrants mostly arrived in the early 20th century and the first Russian Revolution in 1905 caused a lot to seek new begnings in Australia.
In 2006 it was estimated at about 5,684 Russians living in Victoria and 22% of those people were Russian Orthodox.
